The official opening of the new Primary Care Centre on Friday by the Minister of State in the Department of Health was welcomed by Fine Gael Councillor George Jones. The putting in place of the Primary Care Teams serving the Newtown – Kilcoole areas was most welcome and the having the teams work out of one premises is the ideal situation.

Cllr George Jones expressed disappointment at the slow rate of development of these Primary Care Centres and now hopes that this Government who has appointed a Minister of State for the first time to take charge of this vital area of the overall Health Budget will make major progress over the coming years.

Cllr Jones concluded “I am really disappointed that the project for a new Primary Care Centre for Greystones is still not underway and he has called on the HSE, Sispar and Wicklow County Council to redouble their efforts to have this new Centre started at Harbour and if there is not progress over the next few weeks the HSE will need to seek a new location.
