GREAT TURN OUT FOR LIBRARY 100 YEARS CELEBRATION

The Lecture given on Sunday by Brendan Martin of Wicklow County Council Library Service was well received by the 70 strong audiences in the Library. The event hosed by the La Touche Legacy to note the 100 years of the opening of the Greystones Library Branch.

The Chairman of the La Touche Legacy Committee Cllr George Jones said “the Committee was delighted with the whole weekend firstly by the staging of the first Bloomsday in the town and the celebration of the great service provided over the past 100 years by the staff of the Library.

Brendan Martin gave full details of the involvement of Carnegie in funding 66 public libraries in the Republic and Northern Ireland and the history of the operations of Greystones Library over the past 100 years.

Cllr Jones confirmed that the La Touche Legacy would shortly be announcing the results of their Photography Competition.
