Cllr George Jones has welcomed the initiative by the Greystones Tidy Town’s Committee to install five tree planters on the main street in Greystones.

Cllr Jones said it was very regrettable that the County Council had not commenced this type of planting to improve the street scrape of Church Road, indeed the last planting by Wicklow County Council at the Railway station was very poor with a number of the trees allowed to die.

Cllr Jones said “I hope the Tidy Towns expand this program as it so important to have trees growing in the main areas of business and of course the Council should also be seen to encourage such initiatives by bodies like the Tidy Towns.

Cllr Jones also called on the local council management to review the circumstances to see if over head cables on the Main Street can be put underground.
