CLARIFICATION SOUGHT BY JONES ON FUTURE OF GREYTONES POSTAL SORTING OFFICE

Cllr George Jones has sought clarification from An Post Management on the future of the Greystones Sorting office on La Touche Road.

Cllr Jones said “I understand there are proposals to close the Greystones sorting office by transferring the work to a new joint facility in Bray.” Cllr Jones added “I believe that this suggestion if true would be a very retrograde step for service to the local community and of course the work force”.

It was very ironic that the Greystones Postal service who have won the top national award for service run by An Post were rewarded by the closure of their current workplace and transfer to Bray.

Cllr Jones said “I will be raising this issue at the January Town Council meeting and I would hope my colleagues would support my proposal to retain a postal sorting office within the Town and he hope the community and business interests would also strongly fight for this service”.
