Blue Flag Status remains for Greystones Beach

JONES EXPRESSES REGRET THAT VERY LITTLE MEDIA COVERAGE GIVEN ON BLUE FLAG RETENTION

Cllr George Jones this week expressed disappointment that Wicklow County Council did organise a suitable event to note the retention of Blue Flag status for Greystones South Beach this year.

Cllr Jones while expressing disappointment also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the Council staff locally and in the Environment Section at County Buildings Wicklow for their very valuable work in retaining the Blue Flag Status.

This particular status with EU backing is very important and during my time on Wicklow County Council I have always highlighted the need for Wicklow to retain our existing flags but I also feel that much more effort should be made by Wicklow and Local communities to increase our number of Blue Flag beaches.

Cllr Jones concluded by calling all people who use the South beach to bring their rubbish home and in particular for dog owners to refrain from using the beaches during the summer season and at all times remove their dog dirt from the paths and seaside walks.
