PRAISE FOR TIDY TOWNS COMMITTEE

GREAT WORK BY TIDY TOWNS COMMITTEE IN GREYSTONES AND KILCOOLE

The huge amount of work being undertaken by local committees of Tidy Towns in places like Greystones, Kilcoole and Delgany deserves great praise said Cllr George Jones this week.

In Greystones it appears a very large amount of work normally undertaken by Wicklow County Council has this year passed to the local Tidy Towns voluntary workers. Cllr Jones said “While I really appreciate the large volume of work they are doing I feel the Council Management need to review its operations in this area.”

Cllr Jones went “I am not satisfied that we can continue to use the excuse of “no money” being available to avoid doing certain works” Greystones is the largest town under the direct control of Wicklow County Council and at the present time I feel it is being totally ignored when it comes to routine works.

It is important that the Town Council take the matter in hand and ensure a reversal of the current trend to pass all works to local committees and I call on the Town Manager to urgently review operations in this area.
