Chairman of the La Touche Legacy Committee George Jones has confirmed that the 26th La Touche Seminar will be held during the September weekend of 26-28. The Seminar will of course change this year according to George Jones in view of the new rules that will apply to conferences and seminars that the much reduced Local Authority sector will be subjected to.

In order to meet the change there will be a much bigger focus on the local communities and indeed on Local Historical Associations throughout the county but the Committee hope to maintain the relationship built up with Ards Borough Council over the past 20 years.

George Jones announced that this years Seminar will be organised in association with the Greystones Archaeological and Historical Society and the County Wicklow Library Service, and the theme of this years Seminar will be World War 1 (1914-1918)

This war saw 210,000 Irishmen serving in the British forces, 35,000 Irish died in the war and since this year is the centenary of its start the La Touche Legacy have secured The Great War Roadshow which has Dr Myles Dungan (RTE Broadcaster and historian) heading up a touring programme of talks and presentations on the Irish experience of WW1. This Roadshow will also include many leading historians, broadcasters, authors and academic presenters such as Turtle Bunbury, Dr Ciaran Wallace, and John O’Keeffe.

The Seminar will run from Friday 26th September to Sunday 28th September in Charlesland Golf and Country Club and details of the full programme including admission arrangements will shortly published concluded George Jones.
