Protection status removed from La Touche Hotel Greystones

Proposal to remove the protected status of the outside of the old La Touche Hotel building was agreed at the recent Council discussions on the draft development plan.

Cllr Jones has welcomed this change as the current status of the building would hinder the sale of the site and would leave this “eye sore” in situ for years to come. I would hope that we can find a buyer for the site and a development acceptable to the area can be undertaken said Cllr Jones.

Cllr Jones hit out at the proposal to rezone the old Abwood site made at this development plan meeting, Cllr Jones said “while I very strongly supported the retention of Abwood on their old site in the past I felt it was totally irresponsible by councillors to attempt to reverse the decisions made by Bord Pleanala and the Courts of the land.

Cllr Jones said he welcomed the rejection of the re zoning proposal by the vast majority of the Council with only Two Votes in support.
