The Greystones Home Help Services Ltd (not for profit company) celebrated 30 years of community service with a lunch in the Glenview Hotel to day (Friday)

Cllr George Jones Chairman of Home Help Board welcomed Grace Fraher Manager HSE Wicklow along with Liz Doyle HSE , along with founding Home Help staff of Olive Coates, Josie Cahill, Maire Byrne and Noreen Clarke. The first organiser and still Manager of the service Carol Kemp was also present. Ms Heather Houston former public health nurse who proposed the service for Greystones 30 years ago was also a guest.

Cllr Jones in an address said ” the big success of the Home Help service was the caring, dedicated attitude and community based operations it was, this ethos was very much dictated by Carol Kemp in the early days of the Service and despite the fact many private operators have entered the market the same caring service is provided to day.”

Cllr Jones referred to the very sad Primetime program on Monday night and he was very glad to report that no such complaints has ever been made against the Greystones Home Helps in the 30 years, At the same time his Board would very much welcome regulations for this service.

Grace Fraher thanked George , his Board and the Home Help workers for their great service over the past thirty years and looked forward to working with Greystones in the years to come.

Currently Greystones whose area covers Greystones, Kilcoole, Delgany, Kilpedder, Enniskerry Newcastle and Newtown have a 105 Home Helps and are dealing with 330 clients.
