Zero increase in Commercial Rates and Water Charges


Fine Gael Councillor George Jones has welcomed the passing of 2011 Budget by Wicklow County Council without increasing Water Charges or Commercial rates.
For the second year in a row and with another savage cut by central Government of 9% councillors have not placed the burden on the Commercial Sector with rate/water increases said Jones. This should assist business in Wicklow to continue in these difficult financial times.

Cllr Jones said he was also delighted that his colleagues had agreed to provide €90,000 for the libraries book fund which this year because of the need to cut finance had a nil amount in the proposed budget, also Cllr Jones welcomed the additional €20,000 for resident associations under the Housing Section.

Cllr Jones said “for the first time in recent years Wicklow County Council had included finance for the Cliff Walk to be maintained .

The Council also agreed to review the proposal to close Blessington & Bray Motor Tax offices.
