Cllr George Jones Fine Gael Leader of Wicklow County Council in a statement this week praised the conduct of other candidates at the recent election count in Shoreline Greystones.

Cllr Jones said ” while the result was great for Fine Gael and Andrew Doyle, Simon Harris and Billy Timmins combined to give the party the best ever result in Wicklow it is right that we praise candidates who were not successful” In particular George Jones said ” former Deputy Joe Behan who had the experience of losing his seat stayed around to congratulate all successful TD’s. Cllr Pat Fitzgerald despite the efforts by his own party to have him eliminated showed great courtesy to everyone.”
Cllr Jones highlighted also the courtesy shown by Cllr John Brady and his supporters to the Fine Gael candidates on a difficult night for him.

Cllr Jones concluded “at times when we oppose each other it is also right that we give credit where it is due and that we should show respect for colleagues in the political system.
