What a week it has been suggested by Cllr George Jones to day. The international coverage that has been received from the visit of Queen Elizabeth and President Obama will do a great deal of good for the country.

Ireland showed it had reached a new stage in our relationships with Britain after the visit of the Queen and Prince Philip, a great deal of credit must be given to President McAleese and her husband Senator Martin McAleese for all there work in the cause of peace in Northern Ireland. Cllr Jones added in our own small way here in Greystones by linking with Ards Borough Council we have continued to further the cause of peace.

As was reported after the very successful visit of President Obama “there was a spring in the national step” and Cllr Jones said “I hope both of these visits will give the country the lift that is required and will also help in increasing tourism and attracting industry to the country.

Despite the lack of any visit to Wicklow by either the Queen or President we must be prepared in the county to take advantage of new won image said Cllr Jones.

Cllr Jones also praised Enda Kenny and all Government agencies for their very hard work to make the past seven day “a great win for Ireland”
